The Process + Interior Services

Everyone likes a good before and after, and the process is where all the magic happens.

Following a thorough process, identifying constraints, and creating a scheme with design standards will result in the best final outcome. A comprehensive scheme complements the setting, the architectural style of the structure, the use of the space and very importantly, the aesthetic desires of the residents.

Each chosen element plays with other features to create harmony and cohesion, and sometimes a pivot is required. It is important to consider all aspects of the design scheme so that the vision stays intact. (That’s why emulating an image from Pinterest never truly works as intended!) With strong communication, collaboration and iteration, the project will maintain high standards.

Design can be an important role in creating a strong foundation for a home that just feels right. Before the exciting layers of decoration later in the game, investing in design earlier improves the features and value of the home: for example, that could mean having a lighting plan in the right place at the start, not just swapping out fixtures. Same goes for thoughtful built-ins, moldings or color palettes, to avoid ending up with default builder choices.

The following are specific service offerings that can be packaged together, or workable a la carte, depending on the project scope. Please do inquire!

Interior Architecture + Space Planning

The existing circulation and structure of the space are reviewed for potential. Is there a wall in the way that could open things up, or a built-in that would alleviate storage and create a nook? Could the room be clustered into zones for better function and balance, or is there an awkward corner that hasn’t realized its potential ? There are varying levels of permanence in changes that improve the usability and flow of rooms, and we evaluate the options in depth.

Design Scheme

This is the multi-layered illustration for the story of the space. The design concept comes to life through colors, patterns, shapes and textures that evoke an emotional response and how the space should feel and function. The discovery phase is critical to create an abstract concept and inspiration, while framing it around the objectives and personality of the inhabitants. The outcome will be a concept board with a layout, color palette, fabrics, and furnishings that can be implemented imminently or in stages.

Finishes, Fixtures, Color Palettes

Selecting the finishes and fixtures for a project is an undertaking that considers aesthetics, function, durability and budget. The devil is in the details and decision fatigue is real. There are many great options available direct to consumers, and collections or showrooms for the trade that offer a different level of craftsmanship. The best project outcomes are sourced from all ends of the spectrum, resulting in a curation of options that fit like a puzzle to the overall vision. Mixing metals, colors and finishes is an art, and how to position them is a science. A detailed list of specifications to share with installers gets it right.

Elevations, Millwork and Lighting Plans

There are tried and true formulas, and ingenious exceptions to the rules when it comes to finish carpentry, joinery and lighting. A drawing or layout is worth a thousand words, and provides direction to avoid assumptions, which is usually the cause of a misunderstanding.
